Onuaku day-to-day after injury, expected to return to practice Monday

first_img Published on March 11, 2010 at 12:00 pm Facebook Twitter Google+ Center Arinze Onuaku is day-to-day, according to a press release issue by Syracuse Athletics. The MRI on his right knee showed that he has a right quadriceps injury and he has begun receiving treatment. It’s anticipated that Onuaku will make his return to practice Monday, one day after the team learns its NCAA Tournament seeding.Onuaku injured his right knee in a collision with Georgetown center Greg Monroe late in Syracuse’s 91-84 loss to Georgetown in the Big East Quarterfinals Thursday at Madison Square Garden. After coming down following  an attempted block, Onuaku fell to the ground and grabbed his right knee. He writhed around in pain on the floor, while teammates and trainers attended to him. Onuaku did not play the final 5:07 in the game, and was seen on crutches after the game. He previously had surgery on his right knee, along with his left knee. With Onuaku seeming available for the NCAA Tournament, Syracuse’s optimism and outlook will be much brighter. Onuaku is a key cog in the Orange’s seven-man rotation and the teams lack depth backcourt. Without Onuaku, Monroe scored nine of his 15 points in the final 5:07 to lead Georgetown to to the upset. If he were to miss a game, it would put pressure on Kris Joseph, Wes Johnson and Rick Jackson to stay out of foul trouble and play close to 40 minutes per [email protected] is placeholder text Commentslast_img read more

AYC 2013:Egypt beat hosts Algeria to reach AYC semis

first_imgEgypt became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the 12th Orange CAF U-20 Championship taking place in Algeria after beating the host 1-0 in Ain Temouchent on Tuesday night.Midfielder Ramy Rabiaa headed powerful past the goalkeeper on the stroke of half time. The Pharaohs beat Ghana 2-1 in their first group game on Saturday and with six points, they are assured of finishing in the top two and that also means qualification to the FIFA U-20 World Cup to come later in the year in June and July. The derby had its fair share of passionate and feisty football but clear cut chances were few and far between. The Egyptians made more meaningful use of the ball and possession and looked sharper on attack, with efficient use of wing play.Urged on by a full capacity crowd the hosts tried hard to match their opponents and perhaps were trying too hard as passes often went astray and shots were hurried but you couldn’t fault them for commitment and passion. The flowing football and supportive play in the midfield by the Egyptians helped them wrestle that area in their favour in the first half forcing Algerians to drop deep and leaving their strikers with little assistance upfront. The two keepers were kept busy with the Algeria keeper impressive as he constantly thwarted the danger on his goal. In one such move he was quick off his line to dive down and stop Rabiaa’s shot after the Egyptian had dribbled his way into the box.At the other end the crosses from Algeria were well watched most of the time by the goalkeeper and his safe hands clasped the majority of the shots from a distance by the Algerians. In the second half Algeria threw their all at it and wrestled back the midfield control as they started bombarding Egyptian goal with crosses and shots.Algeria’s constructive play wasn’t always rounded up with the right final touch or decision and with each broken down move the gasps in the stadium became louder.Towards the end Algeria almost got the equalizer but Egypt down to ten men in stoppage time after substitute Mohmoud Hammad got his second yellow during a scuffle hung on for victory over their arch rivals, who now need to beat Ghana on Friday to entertain any hopes of making the semis.last_img read more

Weare wins Quiksilver Pro Durban

first_img21 April 2008An inspired performance by local man Davey Weare saw him surf to victory against the USA’s Austin Ware in excellent surf at Ansteys on the Bluff near Durban to capture the Quiksilver Pro Durban title.Utilising their prime-status alternative venue, the contest organisers had little hesitation in choosing Ansteys for the final day of surfing. “Ansteys was always on the radar,” said contest director Matt Wilson, of the venue choice for the day.Explosive match-ups“There’s not much happening at New Pier, or anywhere else on the coast, and we’re seeing some great waves here. The surfers are happy, so it was the right decision to make.” A day of great surfing, big moves and barrel rides ensued, with some explosive match-ups the order of the day.Josh Kerr from Australia was in the first heat of the day against fellow Australian Shaun Cansdell, and won it convincingly with big turns and some trade-mark airs.“This is a great wave and I’m stoked we moved here,” said Kerr of the new location. “These waves have plenty of push and there are opportunities for big scores, so it definitely was a good idea to move the event. I got lucky in that heat by catching the good ones, but a win’s a win, so I’ll take it.”Red-hot heatWeare, the last of the South Africans left in the contest, then surfed a red-hot heat against German surfer Marlon Lipke, with the Durban star sneaking into some tight barrels and off-the-top combinations to keep local hopes alive. One wave in particular looked like a perfect barrel, but Weare was clipped while exiting the tube.Still, he had done enough to win the heat. “My first wave was a great one, with a little barrel and a nice hook,” he said. “I thought that I was going to make that second barrel, and if I had it would have taken some of the pressure off the heat, but it still worked out alright for me.”The quarter-finals took to the water at low tide, and there were some hollow sections and a few little barrels coming through for the last eight surfers.VictorsEmerging victorious from their encounters were Josh Kerr who defeated Austin Ware; Jihad Khodr, who defeated Heitor Alves; David Weare, who eliminated Dustin Barca; and Portuguese surfer Tiago Pires who took out Leigh Sedley from Australia.“Well, the waves are fine here at Ansteys. We got a few good ones in that heat,” said Tiago afterwards. “I much prefer the waves at New Pier, but there’s nothing there today, so we’re lucky with these waves.”In the first semi-final Ware eliminated Kodre from the event, after the Brazilian’s best wave scored a zero. Ware had priority at the time, and was up and riding on the inside when Jihad took off.“I went for that wave as I needed an early start. I didn’t even see what Jihad was doing,” said Ware of the incident. “Still, I’m stoked to get so far. This is my first six-star final, so I am absolutely pumped!”Semi-finalIn the second semi-final, Weare turned up the heat against Pires and turned in an inspired performance in front of his home crowd. He linked his scoring waves all the way through to the shorebreak, with some good combinations of moves and impressive laybacks.“I was so stoked to hear the crowds cheering me after every wave,” said Weare. “I’ve got my wife and my daughter and family here, my dad, and all my best friends. It’s unreal to hear their support.”The Quiksilver Pro Junior hit the water just prior to the main final, and tightly contested final unfolded between Klee Strachan and Nick Godfrey.Near the end of the heat, it was Godfrey in the lead, and with priority when he gave a wave to Strachan, who maximised the opportunity, pulled off a big turn on the outside, and weaved his way all the way through to the shorebreak for a massive hit, a big score and the Pro Junior title.FinalThe tide had moved in for the final of the main event between Weare and Ware, but the waves were still pumping.Weare’s first scoring wave consisted of a clean tube ride and a big close-out move, and matters only got better for the local ace as he delivered his best heat of competition in the final. After his first good ride, he followed up with two more big scores that showed off his repertoire of futuristic airs and big turns, leaving Ware needing a nine-plus score to get into the lead. The American was gracious in defeat, praising Weare on his performance as a beaming Weare emerged from the water as the Quiksilver Pro Durban 2008 Champion.‘So incredibly happy’“So incredibly happy right now,” said Weare just seconds before he was hoisted up on the shoulders of friends and carried up the beach.“I had a good start, and during the event whenever I had a good start I seemed to do well. I’m a bit overwhelmed right now. I can’t remember all that went on in the heat. The support really did help, so thanks to all those people who were cheering me on from the beach.”Weare pocketed $15 000 for his victory, as well as 3 000 World Qualifying Series points, which will go a long way towards helping him achieve his goal of qualifying the 2009 World Championship Tour.SAinfo reporterWould you like to use this article in your publicationor on your website?See: Using SAinfo materiallast_img read more

Perfect colour match and great quality – very happy. Fabwigs Clip In Human Hair Extensions – 15 18 20 22 Inch 7pcs 70g Set – Silky Straight Human Remy Hair (18 Inch #1 Jet Black)100% remy human hair, double strong weft, tight and neat, stainless steel clips, easy to ware and removeNo Shedding,No Tangles,No Smell,Top Quality,Silky Soft. Can Be Curled, Straightened, Tongued & Washed, But Do Not Use High Tempreture.Item included: 7 pieces 70 grams per pack,16 clips, 22 colors available. All the extensions have been dyed the different color in the processing, if you want to re-stain, light color can be dyed to darker, but the darker can??t be dye to light. Very excited about these, they look and feel amazing. I will be coming back again and again. I usually pay out sooo much money for real hair clip ins i have tried them all (halo etc) these are just as good. They stay straight, hold a curl without spray, stay in, don’t show, wash nice. I have a auburn colour hair which is impossible to match. So i purchased these in blonde and used a box dye on them, i was so impressed they turned colour quickly i was able to rinse them in 10 mins, then condition, perfect. Fooled so many people into thinking it was my natural hair. Lovely hair but a bit definitely not 70g each, bought 2 packs. Will have to order more to make it thicker. Fabwigs Clip In Human Hair Extensions – 15 18 20 22 Inch 7pcs 70g Set – Silky Straight Human Remy Hair (18 Inch #1 Jet Black) : Amazing quality hair, clips stay attached to hair once in but one pack definitely isn’t enough for a full head i’d say you’d need 2-3 packs for a full head. Brill condition arrived next day and they easy to manage. I do recommend this product. Excellent service, lovely natural hair and the colours are spot on. Will defo be using and recomending to others. Yes these are thin as lot of people have mentioned but as a hair consultant i have to say that for the quality of the hair that is to be expected at 20 inches. Your best bet is to take 2 of the same size. Temove the clips on one set carefully using only s stitch unpicked never scissors. Now match up the 2 strips so that the streaks are opposite colours. Sew the one without the clips on top of clip one. This saves putting too much weight on ones head from the clips. I personally bought one streaked and one light caramel brown and placed one caramel brown weft on top of a streaked one. If you have more streaked purchase i streaked one and one light blonde. Remember to double check the weight of hair. 70g was definitely not enough for my average hair. But thanks for the quick email guys. Gorgeous colour, but they are very thin. You would need 3-4 packs for a full head full volume look. For the price these are great extensions. I only use a couple of strips and replace every few weeks. They stay nice for this long and because of the low price you can afford to swap them more often. Great quality hair for the price. Exactly as described but definitely a bit longer then 15′. I did get 3 packs as i have thick hair and 3 packs work out as the perfect weight for a full head of thick hair. Will be getting these again when i need to replace those ones. You get what you pay for colour is as shown but hair was mostly synthetic. Fantastic extensions, i removed the clips and weaved them in, will be ordering more. Bought these to thicken up some other extensions although i’m not sure they’re 100% human hair. Having had contact with the seller about this they have been a huge help, fantastic communication and can confirm that although the product was not for me personally, the seller works hard to make their buyers happy. For this reason i give them 4 stars. last_img read more

An update on nitrogen recommendations for wheat

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest Do we have any wheat left in Ohio? I would like to see more acres. It makes our other two crops better and reduces weed, insect and disease problems for them, too. The new Ohio Agronomy Guide has just a bit of an update on spring nitrogen (N) recommendations for wheat in Ohio.We still suggest following the Tri-State Fertilizer Recommendations for N rates in wheat, with an update on the discussion of why. We do rely on yield potential of a field to make the recommendation. Once you have set a realistic yield goal, the recommendation may be based on the following table. These recommendations are for mineral soils with adequate drainage and 1% to 5% organic matter.Nitrogen rate for wheat by yield potential.Yield potentialTotal N ratebu/Alb/A60607075809090110100130 We do not give any credit for the previous soybean or cover crop, since we do not know if that organic N source will be mineralized for the wheat crop. The recommendation does suggest that you subtract from the total (spring N) any fall applied N up to 20 pounds of N per A.last_img read more

It’s Hard to Tell the Truth

first_imgIt’s harder to tell the truth than to tell people what they want to hear. The truth is that results are difficult to produce, they’re more expensive than you think, and that the change is going to be difficult and perhaps even disruptive. The truth is that things may have to get worse before they get better. You can see how that might not make you real popular, can’t you?Telling people what they want to hear is easier. All you have to do is switch to our firm to produce better results, we’ll save you money, and there will be a seamless transition that won’t disrupt your business at all. Now that sounds good, doesn’t it?This is the contrast principle at work. Better, faster, cheaper? Or better, slower, and more expensive? Some of your prospective clients will buy the big lie that is better, faster, cheaper. Some will buy the lie three or four times in a row, switching providers over and over again, always hoping that the lie is true. Some of these prospects will eventually tire of pursuing the lie and finally invest the time, energy, and money necessary to producing the results they need. Some will learn to live with something inferior and never make the investments.Other prospects are too old, too wise, or too committed to believe the lie. They know better. They make mature, rational business decisions. They’re skeptical of anything that sounds too good to be true because they know that there is no way that they could possibly deliver three outcomes as at odds with each other as better, faster, cheaper. It’s your job to recognize what your buyer believes. When you recognize they believe the big lie, you have to challenge that belief and ask them how they deliver better, faster, and cheaper to their clients or customers? When they hang on to the belief with all their hearts, you have to find your way over them, around them, or abandon them. Some is this group doesn’t want to hear the truth. They’d rather take the blue pill. When your buyer recognizes the need to make the right investments, it’s your job to help them make those investments by helping them see how investing in you is going to help them produce the results they need. It’s easy to tell this group the truth; they want to hear it. They want the red pill. Get the Free eBook! Learn how to sell without a sales manager. Download my free eBook! You need to make sales.
