Finneran Named to MVC Softball Scholar-Athlete First Team for Second-Straight Season

LOUIS – Senior Kaitlyn Finneran (Morrison, Ill.) of the Drake University softball team was named to the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete First Team, the MVC office announced Monday, May 15 afternoon. It is the second-straight season Finneran has been named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team. Finneran, an outstanding student, graduated this past weekend with a degree in biology and a minor in sociology. She graduated with a 3.91 cumulative grade point average and Summa Cum Laude. Finneran, who has been accepted to Des Moines University to study Osteopathic Medicine beginning in Aug., was a MVC Presidential Council Award honoree for maintaining a GPA of 3.80 or better. She was also awarded the prestigious MVC Elite 18 award in 2016. The Elite 18 award is presented to the student-athlete participating in each MVC sport championship with the highest GPA. In her final season, Finneran played in 50 games and batted .202 with four doubles and 10 runs batted in. The league’s sports information directors vote on the MVC Scholar-Athlete teams. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must have a 3.2 GPA or higher, be at least a sophomore in athletic and academic standing at their institution and meet certain playing requirements. Print Friendly Versionlast_img read more
