Proceedings of the oath ceremony were conducted by Nitishwar Kumar, Principal Secretary to Lt. Governor. Former Chief Justice of the J&K High Court, Justice Gita Mittal; Judges of the J&K High Court; sitting as well as retired Judges from Allahabad High Court; Advocate General; Advisors to the Lt Governor; Chief Secretary; Administrative Secretaries; Senior officers of Judiciary; Civil Administration; Police; family members and friends of Justice Pankaj Mithal were present during the ceremony. After taking oath as Chief Justice, Justice Mithal reached High Court and was given Guard of Honour by a smart contingent of J&K Police. Later, Chief Justice reviewed the functioning of all the sections of the High Court and took stock of the various facilities available for litigants, lawyers, and overall infrastructure. Justice Mithal graduated in Commerce from Allahabad University in the year 1982 and passed L.L.B. from Meerut College, Meerut affiliated to Ch. Charan Singh University in the year 1985. He enrolled as an advocate in Bar Council of U.P. in the Year 1985. Elevated as Additional Judge on 07/07/2006.
