Half-time: Fulham 1 Huddersfield 0

first_imgHugo Rodallega’s sixth goal of the season put Fulham ahead at half-time as they looked to extend their unbeaten league run. Aside from an early George Williams shot which was saved, the Whites were largely pinned back in their own half by Huddersfield, who twice came close to taking the lead in the first 20 minutes.Fortunately for Fulham, Elsad Zverotic was in the right place to clear Mark Hudson’s header off the line and then Harry Bunn somehow contrived to roll a shot past the post when he only had keeper Marcus Bettinelli to beat. When Huddersfield shot themselves in the foot again, this time at the other end, Fulham were quick to pounce. Hudson, who began his career at Fulham as a youngster, miscontrolled just inside his own half, Rodallega nipped in and after receiving a return pass from Ross McCormack, slotted past the goalkeeper. It wasn’t to spark a spell of Fulham pressure, however. Instead, Huddersfield continued to probe without ever finding the killer pass to expose an anxious-looking Whites defence. And Fulham had two good chances to score a second. George Williams fired into the side netting from an angle and in first half injury time, Rodallega wastefully nodded over from Lasse Christensen’s cross.Kit Symons made two changes from the side which drew with Blackpool in midweek, McCormack returning after suspension, replacing Moussa Dembele, and Kostas Stafylidis replacing the injured Fernando Amorebieta at left-back.Fulham (4-1-2-1-2): Bettinelli; Zverotic, Bodurov, Burn, Stafylidis; Parker; Christensen, Williams; Ruiz; Rodallega, McCormack.Subs: Kiraly, Hutchinson, Eisfeld, Roberts, Woodrow, Dembele, Hyndman.Follow West London Sport on TwitterFind us on Facebooklast_img read more

An update on nitrogen recommendations for wheat

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest Do we have any wheat left in Ohio? I would like to see more acres. It makes our other two crops better and reduces weed, insect and disease problems for them, too. The new Ohio Agronomy Guide has just a bit of an update on spring nitrogen (N) recommendations for wheat in Ohio.We still suggest following the Tri-State Fertilizer Recommendations for N rates in wheat, with an update on the discussion of why. We do rely on yield potential of a field to make the recommendation. Once you have set a realistic yield goal, the recommendation may be based on the following table. These recommendations are for mineral soils with adequate drainage and 1% to 5% organic matter.Nitrogen rate for wheat by yield potential.Yield potentialTotal N ratebu/Alb/A60607075809090110100130 We do not give any credit for the previous soybean or cover crop, since we do not know if that organic N source will be mineralized for the wheat crop. The recommendation does suggest that you subtract from the total (spring N) any fall applied N up to 20 pounds of N per A.last_img read more

Access, Aggregation, and Other Big Data Challenges for Startups

first_imgTop Reasons to Go With Managed WordPress Hosting A Web Developer’s New Best Friend is the AI Wai… Tags:#Analysis#start In some ways, the term “big data” belies the challenges that startups face in tackling the subject. That adjective “big” tends to get a lot of the attention, often at the expense of the noun “data.” In other words, we spend a lot of time talking about issues of the quantity of data and less time addressing issues of quality. Some of those issues were addressed today at Web 2.0 Expo when Factual CEO and founder Gil Elbaz gave a talk on the challenges of big data. The subtitle of his talk is key here: “Getting Some.” It isn’t simply a matter of storing data, but rather how companies, particularly startups, can access data. Elbaz identified several major hurdles that companies face around data: FindabilityAccessRights and OwnershipEconomics and Business ModelsStandardsIntegration and AggregationTrustThese are challenges for any company, arguably, but for startups, they can be particularly daunting. Elbaz gave the example of building a company based around book data as an example. There are a number of places where data around books can be found – Google Books, Amazon, LibraryThing, for example. But despite the amount of data about books – authors, descriptions, cover arts, reviews and the like – and despite a lot of these data sources having APIs, it’s not easy for a startup to access, utilize, or monetize. And “starting from scratch” to build out a new database would take a lot of resources, something a startup isn’t likely to have.Elbaz argues that it’s important to “grease the wheels” of data, something he sees as part of the mission of his startup Factual, an open data source for location data. This open data model, he argues will move the web towards “information singularity,” as will other efforts like data marketplaces, data search engines, semantic web mark-up, and better standards.Elbaz contends that ownership and control of data will eventually be viewed as a cost and that companies will move towards common schemasand towards sharing foundational data. A new data economy may emerge, he says – an iTunes for data – with novel access methods so that startups can more easily build value-added services on top of big data, rather than having to worry themselves about gathering and storing the data themselves. audrey watterscenter_img Why Tech Companies Need Simpler Terms of Servic… Related Posts 8 Best WordPress Hosting Solutions on the Marketlast_img read more

The end of the contest, however, featured a little bit of controversy. On Oregon’s final possession, as the shot clock was winding down, Ducks forward Dillon Brooks launched and hit a deep three-pointer, which was meaningless to the game’s outcome. He then celebrated wildly, clearly irritating some of Duke’s players. As we showed you earlier, Blue Devils guard Grayson Allen wouldn’t shake Brooks’ hand. Iconic ‘sandesh’ gets a facelift in election season

first_imgKolkata: The “sandesh” has been dressed up. It is on a catwalk either as the Trinamool’s “jora ghash phul” (twin-flower), BJP’s lotus, Congress hand symbol or the hammer and sickle of the CPI-M. These “election sweets” are just flying off the shelves at Balaram Mullick and Radharaman Mullick, one of the oldest confectioners in the city, or Shibani Sweets at Sodepur in the northern suburb. With the humble “nakuldana” (flour-sugar balls) and “laddoo” taking the centre stage ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in rural Bengal, the confectioners in Kolkata are not leaving any opportunity to bank on the frenzied ambience. Also Read – Bengal family worships Muslim girl as Goddess Durga in Kumari Puja”Sandesh” (cottage cheese sweet) is readily coming up in any form you wish. They have been flying off the shelves since the election drums were rolled. “We have been making these sweets during elections for many years. This year too the response is very good,” Poppy Mullick of Balaram Mullick and Radharaman Mullick said. Asked which party-themed sweet was selling the most, she jokingly said “no comments”. Regarding the bulk orders placed by the party workers, Mullick gave a hint that “the ruling Trinamool Congress topped the chart.” They have priced a sweet of 250 gm at Rs 150. Also Read – Bengal civic volunteer dies in road mishap on national highwayThe Sodepur sweet shop, which specialises in theme-based sweets during football and cricket World Cups, is offering decorative trays filled with huge sweets replicated as party symbols. Trinamool’s twin-flower, BJP’s lotus, the hand symbol of Congress or the hammer and sickle of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) — they have all been given a sweet twist. “We are offering the big trays for Rs 800-2,000 each while a small sandesh is priced at Rs 70,” said Sanjib Das, a staff at Shibani Sweets. Das is elated as this year the shop is getting “huge response”. He mentioned that the customers are so impressed that they are asking for larger sizes. “The ‘Trinamool sandesh’ is in great demand. Sweets of other parties like the BJP, Congress and the CPI(M) are selling too,” Das said. Orders can also be customised as per the customers’ demand. The shops also ensure that the customers get fresh sweets, so after placing the order, one has to wait for a little time. Almost 14-15 men are toiling hard to churn out these sweet delicacies laced with aesthetic appeal at Shibani Sweets. “This is just the beginning, I am sure that as the election heat picks up, the demand will keep soaring. We will try our best to deliver,” Das said. While Mullicks will stick to sweets with party symbols, Shibani Sweets will try to come up with sweets replicating leaders’ faces if demanded. Amidst the high voltage campaigns, these sweets will add a dash of goodness and will be savoured by the supporters and the members of the winning party and candidates, the shop said. Trinamool Congress’ Birbhum district president Anubrata Mondal’s directive to party workers to hand over “nakuldana” and water to people to keep them cool and the BJP’s decision to distribute “laddoos” among the people as a counter move has added to the sweetness of the electoral contest in the state. The seven-phase Lok Sabha elections in the state will be held between April 11 and May 19. Votes will be counted on May 23.last_img read more
