Amazing Fossils, Dead and Alive

first_imgAustralia’s oldest bird tracks with dinosaurs, “living fossil” sponges and other strange and wonderful findings accentuate the news on natural history.Cretaceous bird tracks:  The oldest bird tracks in Australia, claimed 105 million years old, were reported by Science Daily.  Anthony Martin (Emory U) commented, “These tracks are evidence that we had sizeable, flying birds living alongside other kinds of dinosaurs on these polar, river floodplains, about 105 million years ago.”  The tracks show skidmarks of landing, as if made by large birds like herons or egrets.  Martin said, “I immediately knew what it was — a flight landing track — because I’ve seen many similar tracks made by egrets and herons on the sandy beaches of Georgia.”  Megan Gannon at Live Science noted a conundrum: “The bird tracks were found very close to another footprint that looks like it was left by a non-avian theropod, possibly one of the coelurosaurs, the group of dinosaurs most closely related to birds that includes beasts like the Tyrannosaurus rex” (see 10/25/13).  The abstract of the paper in Palaeontology says these are “the oldest known fossil bird tracks in Australia and the only Early Cretaceous ones from Gondwana.”  Watermark: crev.info.  The timing of this news fits perfectly with a recent article on Creation Ministries International about museum displays misleading the public by failing to point out that bird and dinosaur fossils are often found together.Living fossil sponges:  Glass sponges are among the oldest multicellular animals in the evolutionary chronology, but they’re doing just fine near Canada, reported National Geographic about the “First-ever Submarine Dive on Vancouver’s ‘Living Fossils’ Glass Sponge Reef.”  What a surprise it was:“It was like discovering a herd of dinosaurs on land,” says Manfred Krautter, a paleobiologist at the University of Stuttgart in Germany. “It was like going back in time because I had been looking at the fossil sponges for decades, and here they were alive.“The area covers 280 square miles.  “It’s an oasis,” Sally Leys [U of Alberta] said . “You come along in the mud [on the seafloor] and then all of a sudden, kapoof, it’s life.”  The first such reef was discovered in 1986.  In the evolutionary scenario 160 million years ago, these reefs were the largest in earth history.Had hadrosaur:  An early Cretaceous hadrosaur in China was announced on PhysOrg.  Although the discoverers claimed this fossil “can elucidate the evolution of hadrosauroids, especially the origin of hadrosaurids,” the article made it clear it’s an evolutionary mystery: “The origin of hadrosaurid dinosaurs is far from clear, mainly due to the paucity of their early Late Cretaceous close relatives” (compare with the story of tyrannosaur origins, 10/256/13).Lost and found world:  Another “lost world” habitat has been found at the summit of Cape Melville by scientists from the University of Queensland, reported PhysOrg.  So far, a leaf-tailed gecko, a speckled frog and a gold-colored skink have been identified, but the team believes more species, perhaps small mammals, remain to be discovered. “Finding three new, obviously distinct vertebrates would be surprising enough in somewhere poorly explored like New Guinea, let alone in Australia, a country we think we’ve explored pretty well.”  It’s been hard to reach because “The virtually impassable mountain range is home to millions of black granite boulders the size of cars and houses piled hundreds of metres high, eroded in places after being thrust up through the earth millions of years ago.”  The article did not explain how these species avoided finding migration paths for millions of years, but one of the researchers made this remark:“All the animals from Cape Melville are incredible just for their ability to persist for millions of years in the same area and not go extinct. It’s just mind-blowing,” [Conrad] Hoskin said.Fossils under skyscrapers:  PhysOrg described the ongoing work at La Brea Tar Pits in Century City, near Los Angeles – a fossil graveyard so vast, it could take another century to excavate.   You are reading material from crev.info.  Of interest is the fact that more Pleistocene fossils turn up every time there is a dig for a new parking lot or skyscraper in the area, outside the designated tar pit area.  The article presents the usual slow-and-gradual entrapment story, but admits this mystery:Despite a century of digging, scientists still can’t agree on how the Ice Age beasts became extinct. Some suggested that the prehistoric predators may have competed with humans for similar prey and that carnivores ate carcasses out of desperation. But Larisa DeSantis of Vanderbilt University said dental studies of saber-toothed cats and other carnivores suggest they were “living the good life” before they became extinct. The Canaanite crisis:  Pollen grains are being used to piece together a story of the collapse of Bronze Age civilization in the land of Israel, a story in PhysOrg explains: “More than 3,200 years ago, the thriving civilizations in and around modern-day Israel suddenly collapsed for reasons that have long been a mystery.”  Pollen, “the most enduring organic substance in nature,” is being radiocarbon dated in sediment cores dug from the Sea of Galilee.  The study is being conducted by Israel Finkelstein, a well-known critic of Biblical chronology.  What does he attribute the collapse to?  “climate change” between 1250-1100 BC, but not due to anthropogenic chariot driving or Joshua.  “After the devastation came a wet period of recovery and resettlement, according to the researchers, eventually giving rising to the kingdoms of biblical times, including ancient Israel and Judah.”We hope you enjoyed these reports brought to you by Creation-Evolution Headlines.  Have you given us your Feedback?  Please let us know from time to time what you think of the news and commentary here, using either the general Feedback line about this site, or the Comments for your thoughts a particular article.  As we showed in our 10/27/13 article, the secularists and evolutionists continue to be surprised by empirical data that, when cleansed of evolutionary assumptions, are not that unexpected from a Biblical viewpoint.  That’s because advocates of Biblical history doubt the “Kapoof, it’s life” theory of evolution with its tales of birds evolving from their contemporaries, animals sitting unevolved for 160 million years, and stories made up out of lack of evidence (i.e., thin air, hot air, or both).  Too much “mind-blowing” on evolutionary fumes can be bad for one’s mental health, e.g., “incredible just for their ability to persist for millions of years in the same area and not go extinct. It’s just mind-blowing!” (Visited 19 times, 1 visits today)FacebookTwitterPinterestSave分享0last_img read more

Appeals Court Rules Police Need a Warrant Before Reading Email

first_imgA Web Developer’s New Best Friend is the AI Wai… Tags:#Government#web audrey watters 8 Best WordPress Hosting Solutions on the Market Top Reasons to Go With Managed WordPress Hostingcenter_img Why Tech Companies Need Simpler Terms of Servic… The Sixth Court of Appeals handed down an important decision today, ruling that police must obtain a search warrant before going through emails stored by an Internet Service Provider. The case, United States v Warshak, is the first in which the court specifically addresses the question of whether or not the Fourth Amendment applies to email communications. The case did affirm the fraud conviction of Steven Warshak, whose emails were read without a warrant. Nevertheless in its decision, the court challenged part of the Stored Communications Act – the law that, up ’til now, has afforded the government warrantless search access in certain cases. The Stored Communications Act (SCA) was passed in 1986 – “eons ago” in terms of the development of Internet technologies and our increasing reliance on email as a form of communication. The act, in part, prohibits ISPs from divulging email messages to anyone other than the intended recipients. But the law also addresses the circumstances in which the government would not be required to get a warrant to search messages – such as for messages over 180 day old. The weaker protections for email under the Fourth Amendment have been a contentious issue for a long time, but no clear court decision has come down, until today. In making its decision, the court recognized how technology and communication had changed: “Since the advent of email, the telephone call and the letter have waned in importance, and an explosion of Internet-based communication has taken place,” the 3-1 decision reads. “People are now able to send sensitive and intimate information, instantaneously, to friends, family, and colleagues half a world away. Lovers exchange sweet nothings, and businessmen swap ambitious plans, all with the click of a mouse button.” As a result, the Court of Appeals says that “It follows that email requires strong protection under the Fourth Amendment; otherwise, the Fourth Amendment would prove an ineffective guardian of private communication, an essential purpose it has long been recognized to serve.” The EFF, which had filed an amicus brief, hailed today’s ruling as a “landmark decision.” Related Posts last_img read more

A Microsoft ‘Xbox Surface’ Tablet Could Bridge PC-Mobile-Console Gaming

first_imgMicrosoft is reportedly building its own “Xbox Surface” gaming tablet, which could give the company a true mobile gaming strategy.Microsoft officials declined to comment, but the rumored 7-inch tablet could incorporate a custom ARM processor as well as “high-bandwidth RAM suitable for gaming tasks,” The Verge reported on Tuesday. In June, the site published what it believed to be the specs of the device, which included 288MB of RLDRAM 2 and a screen resolution of 1280 x 720.Microsoft is also reportedly considering a Surface phone, according to the rival BGR site. If the reports are true, an “Xbox Surface” tablet would give Microsoft something of a head-to-head competitor to the Sony PlayStation Vita and the Nintendo 3DS. Technically, Microsoft already has a mobile gaming platfrom: Windows Phone, which is moving into Windows Phone 8. Games like Dragon’s Blade and Dungeon Stalker take advantage of Windows Phone 7 (and 8), providing the platform with entertainment for Windows Phone users to enjoy on the subway or an airplane. But the quality of the games pales to what Microsoft’s game console, the Xbox 360, offers; gaming sites like PocketGamer usually give short shrift to Microsoft’s phone games. Mobile Gaming On The RiseStatistically, the rise of mobile gaming clearly justifies a Microsoft foray into the market. In September, analyst group NPD (which provides reports ranking the various game consoles and games by unit sales) said that the number of “mobile gamers” climbed 9% from a year ago, to a total of 23%  of the 211.5 million U.S. gamers, or a total of 46.53 million mobile gamers. Since the number of total gamers actually decreased 5%, that means that mobile gamers are growing both in absolute numbers as well as a percentage of the whole. What NPD doesn’t do – publicly, at least – is break out the numbers for each console. However, a recent report from the Associated Press does a nice snapshot of how console makers are faring. Microsoft, for example, says it shipped 1.7 million Xbox 360 consoles during the latest quarter, down 26% from 2.3 million a year earlier. Sony shipped a total of 3.5 million PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 units for the quarter, down from 4.9 million a year ago. And Nintendo said it sold 1.32 million Wiis for the six-month period ending in September, down from 3.35 million a year ago.The mobile market is a bit more vague. Nintendo didn’t break out its portable shipments, and Sony said it sold 1.6 million portable PlayStation units (possibly including the Vita) versus 1.7 million units a year ago. That probably means that there’s a market opportunity for Microsoft, if it chooses to head down that path. What Games Would An Xbox Surface Run?But there’s a simple question that hasn’t yet been answered: Would an Xbox Surface tablet actually run Xbox games?Currently, the Xbox 360 is powered by the so-called Xenon chip, a triple-core IBM PowerPC chip. That’s an entirely different architecture than the ARM processor found within the Apple iPhone5 or all Android phones. And that, in turn, means that games written for a custom ARM processor in an Xbox Surface tablet would require a custom port to the tablet by the developer itself. It also means, however, that Windows Phone games should work without too much trouble. Designing a tablet around a custom Intel chip seems to make more sense, as it would likely provide the X86 compatibility needed to run true Windows apps, which have already begun straddling the Xbox console and PC anyway. An ARM-powered Xbox Surface tablet might resemble the Surface RT: a low-cost, specialized platform that would require custom apps. That doesn’t mean those apps wouldn’t be written, but it would require additional development effort (and most likely financial incentives from Microsoft) to start building an app ecosystem for the Xbox Surface. And would PC-quality games run well on a tablet? Doubtful.Other PossibilitiesThere are a couple of other possibilities: Sony recently bought Gaikai, a cloud-gaming company that is being assimilated into the PlayStation space. Microsoft has already announced that its latest Halo 4 offering is being powered by its Azure cloud software; it’s not too far-fetched to think that Microsoft could be planning some form of streamed offering, either using the Xbox 360 console for local processing or going all the way back to its own in-house servers. Either way, that would help Microsoft circumvent the limits of an Xbox Surgace tablet. This could also simply be a blown-up marketing effort. Both Sony and Microsoft have released “custom” Xbox hardware tied to a specific game; it’s possible that this could simply be an “Xbox” branded Surface tablet with the SmartGlass “second screen” app front and center.A Microsoft bet on mobile gaming is certainly risky. But as tablets usurp PCs, an Xbox Surface could also be seen as ahead of the curve. Baseball Jalen Washingtons transition to shortstop to benefit team

OSU senior Jalen Washington, who is transitioning from catcher to shortstop, bats during the Scarlet and Gray in late-October. Credit: Courtesy of OSU AthleticsIn January, things do not seem to be too busy around Bill Davis Stadium, home of the Ohio State baseball team. With the first game of the season not until Feb. 17, when the Buckeyes face off against Kansas State in Osceola, Florida, the players are still participating in the occasional workout and batting cage session. However, with every crack of the bat and smack of the catcher’s mitt, OSU is in the middle of one of the most integral parts of any season: creating a team identity.Senior and returning captain Jalen Washington is familiar with having to help build a team chemistry. Now as he moves from behind the plate to the shortstop, the leadership aspect of his game does not seem to be going anywhere.Ever since Washington first stepped foot onto the OSU campus, he felt he had something to prove.“Like freshman or sophomore year, I wasn’t as much of a vocal leader,” Washington said. “I was one that was always pushing the envelope trying to prove myself, trying to make a name for myself and lead by example — working my butt off on the field and off the field.”With work came reward for Washington who was named as a captain of the team heading into his junior season and even before he had played on a regular basis.“He had never been a starter before,” OSU coach Greg Beals said. “That says an awful lot about what his teammates think about him and says an awful lot about his work ethic and what he does.”This was not the only thing that made Washington stand out to his teammates and the coaching staff. It was also his ability to play all over the diamond if needed to.“Pretty much in summer ball and in high school, they used to put me at different positions every year,” Washington said. “I feel like it has always been a tool that I have had and being able to show it off on this big a stage is a pretty cool thing.”Washington’s versatility is what caused Beals to put him behind the plate to see what he could do as a catcher.“I was really intrigued by the possibility, being a catching guy myself, of working with someone of that athleticism, somebody that really hadn’t done a lot of catching before, but was a good athlete, and see if we can teach him the skills of catching,” Beals said. “I also believe that the catching position is becoming more of an athletic, a quicker, lower to the ground type of guy as opposed to the bigger, big, sturdy, strong catchers that used to be the prototype.”Washington started to perfect the art of being a leader behind the plate out of necessity.“Being a catcher is more that just catching and throwing the ball,” Washington said. “You’re the leader of the team. Everyone is looking at you.”Without ever starting a game at catcher going into the 2016 season, Washington had a .992 fielding percentage  and threw out 27 percent of potential base stealers, while also being named to the Johnny Bench Award watch list, just the fifth time a OSU catcher has been named to this list. However, his offensive approach did not match the normal stereotypical catcher.“The skill set of being an athlete is different because in that skill set, it also allows him to be a bunt guy and a run guy on the offensive side,” Beals said. “That’s very different than your normal catching prospect.”Going into the 2017 season, Beals had a different idea for how to maximize Washington’s ability for this team. He will move to shortstop with sophomore catchers Jacob Barnwell and Andrew Fishel taking the reps behind the plate, something that is not a very common move in baseball.“To go from catcher to shortstop, you don’t hear that very often,” Beals said. “It speaks volumes to Jalen’s athletic ability, his versatility as an athlete.”Washington is very proud of his flexibility on the baseball field. His work around the diamond sets him apart from many other players at the college level.“I think that it shows that I have more tools than the other guys do and I’m a little bit more versatile,” Washington said. “Being a catcher, you can show your hands and your feet, but being at shortstop, I can show more athleticism.”With the move to the infield, Washington moves from having to lead the pitcher through his outing to leading the infield. Redshirt junior pitcher Adam Niemeyer said he believes Washington’s knowledge of the game will create a smooth transition.“Last year, he did a great job controlling the game behind the plate,” Niemeyer said. “You know, being in sync with a pitcher is being on the same page. This year, moving to shortstop, really just shows how intelligent he is at the game of baseball and how he can kind of handle doing two totally different positions and do them both very well.”Moving out of the crouch, Washington can now extend his offensive ability, especially on the bases. Last season, he stole 14 bases on 19 opportunities. With the move to shortstop, Washington feels as though that his base running ability will increase dramatically.“When you are catching three, four games a weekend, your legs are pretty worn out,” Washington said. “I see myself as a base stealer, so I feel like I’ll be able to steal more bases, put our offense in better positions to have success.”No matter where Washington will be playing for this OSU team, Beals said he believes Washington will be an integral part of where the Buckeyes will end up at the end of the 2017 season and why.“Our cultural blueprint that we have for our team, one of the last sentences on it is, ‘work to earn trust every day,’ and Jalen Washington does that,” Beals said. “He works extremely hard and he has earned the trust of his teammates.” read more

Workplace Violence How to Prepare for the Unimaginable

first_imgworkplace violence April 5, 2018 Fireside Chat | July 25: Three Surprising Ways to Build Your Brand Next Article Heather R. Huhman The entire country is on edge. The shootings at YouTube headquarters happened just this week.Related: YouTube Shooting Suspect Had Been Angry Over Filtering and DemonetizationPlaces that used to feel safe — from schools and churches to concert venues and workplaces — now feel anything but. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported 500 workplace homicides in the United States in 2016, making violence the second-most-common cause of death in the workplace.Because April is Workplace Violence Awareness Month, there’s no better time than now for leaders to revisit how to handle and prevent dangerous situations. While no one can predict when a violent incident will occur at work, having the right precautions in place can help keep employees safe.Vet potential employees. The first step to avoiding workplace violence is keeping offenders out of your company. Perform thorough background checks to see if candidates have committed crimes in the past. If there are red flags or signs of violent tendencies, these people shouldn’t be hired. If a person has had (or has, while working for you) an isolated incident, leaders must make a judgment call. For example, you could require the individual to undergo anger management therapy so he or she can be a productive, rather than potentially violent, employee.Related: 12 Ways to Spot a Potentially Violent Person in the WorkplaceAlso, use the job interview as a way to assess a job candidate’s personality. Ask questions about previous terminations or gaps in employment and see how the person reacts. If innocuous questions make a person uncomfortable, he or she probably isn’t the best hiring choice.Have a clear plan, and consequences.“Even the best safety plans are only effective if they are put into practice,” Bob Folster, director of loss control services at small-business insurance company Employers in Sacramento, told me in an email.  To feel safe, employees need to know what policies are in place to protect them. This means conducting drills, no matter how unlikely an event might seem. Have employees practice where they’d go or how they would react to scenarios like a robbery or shooting. After each drill, leave time for questions so employees can discuss any concerns they might have. Also, make it clear what consequences employees face if they act violently. While most companies have zero-tolerance policies about workplace violence, gray areas still exist. For example, if an enraged employee throws a stapler, but doesn’t hit anyone, is that a fireable offense? No matter how unlikely a situation may seem, make sure everyone knows what will happen as a result. That way, employees will see there are no loopholes that excuse violent behavior.Know (and share) the warning signs. After a violent incident, people often say, “I should have seen the warning signs.” While leaders aren’t expected to be violence experts, they do need to know what behaviors signal an employee who’s struggling with anger. Some warning signs, like suddenly being late for work on multiple occasions, may seem harmless. But a change like this can show an employee is struggling. Taking the time to speak with this individual can potentially keep the situation from progressing to violence.Asa Sherwood, president of Chicago-based property management company FirstService Residential Illinois, said he likes to take an “it takes a village” approach. “We encourage colleagues to keep an eye out for each other and not be afraid to say something if they see something, so that, as employers, we can address concerns before they reach a tipping point,” Sherwood said via email. Educate employees about possible warning signs so they can help keep the workplace safe. In her book, Risky Business: Managing Employee Violence in the Workplace, Lynne McClure lists the following changes as precursors to violent behavior:Not taking responsibility for one’s mistakesDistancing oneself sociallyActing out of characterLying or partaking in risky behaviorRefusing to try new thingsHelp employees speak up.Leaders can’t be everywhere all the time. This is why employees need to feel safe coming forward if they feel threatened. They need to know there’s a way they can report incidents without fear of retribution.Jay Starkman, CEO of Hollywood, Fla.-based HR solutions company Engage PEO, said he believes this should be a part of employee training. In short: Everyone needs to know what the procedure will be after a violent workplace incident. “Violent behavior is common and must be dealt with promptly, uniformly and in such a way that employees feel comfortable in their ability to work, without the threat of violence or bullying,” Starkman said in an email.Related: Managing Conflict Is Essential to SuccessIf your employees are worried about coming forward, create a company email address where employees can anonymously report incidents that have made them feel uncomfortable. Knowing about these situations can allow you as a leader to address issues before the violence escalates. 5 min read Image credit: Justin Sullivan | Getty Images Learn from renowned serial entrepreneur David Meltzer how to find your frequency in order to stand out from your competitors and build a brand that is authentic, lasting and impactful. Internships for Adults Are on the Rise Heres What You Need to

first_img Fireside Chat | July 25: Three Surprising Ways to Build Your Brand Internships for Adults Are on the Rise. Here’s What You Need to Know Careers This story originally appeared on CNBC An adult with years of experience would never consider an internship, right? Not necessarily. In fact, for people who have been out of the workforce for several years or who want to make a big career change, a returnship — the grown-up version of an internship — could be a second chance at success even if the paycheck is likely smaller than what workers are used to. “For people who are returning to work after a career break, participating in a formal returning professional internship program can be an excellent entree back into the workforce,” said Carol Fishman Cohen, CEO and co-founder of iRelaunch, a career resource website. While a returnship does not guarantee a job, it does provide marketable skills, experts said. They also offer mentorship, experience and a chance to learn about new industry trends and operations.”As our careers are extending, we’re going to need more nonlinear professional career paths, including opportunities to take breaks to look after children and elderly relatives,” said Julianne Miles, co-founder and director of professional network Women Returners. Many corporate giants are hopping on the trend. Companies such as Goldman Sachs, General Motors, Booz Allen Hamilton, Cummins and Credit Suisse also offer returnship programs.Create a returnship, if one doesn’t existAlthough not all companies have returnships listed online, that doesn’t mean they can’t create one through networking, experts said.”Keep in mind that a professional returning to work after a career break can suggest an internship or internship-like experience to an employer that does not have a formal program,” Cohen said. So how do you go about creating one? “Be specific on … what you would like to do while there, and also what skills you would like to work on during your time there,” said Stacey Delo, founder of Maybrooks, a career resource for moms. “Communicate this in your pitch. Try approaching smaller businesses.” Show how your returnship would benefit the company, other experts said. “Pose this paid re-entry role as a win-win for the organization,” said Amanda Augustine, career advice expert for Top Resume, a career service website. “The employer gets some much needed help from an experienced professional, oftentimes at a discounted rate, while you get to learn about the latest technologies and trends in your field and gain some valuable experience,” Augustine added. But be sure to consider all of your optionsOther career experts warned against pursuing a returnship too quickly, before considering other higher-paying options. The ideal candidate for a returnship is someone who has been out of the workforce for more than five years, not just a couple of years, said Allison O’Kelly, founder and CEO Corps Team, a staffing organization focused on experienced professionals seeking nontraditional careers. “The returnships — they’re not a guarantee of a job. So especially when you’ve been out three to five years, you’re still very marketable for job positions,” O’Kelly said. Returnships are usually full-time positions, O’Kelly added. This may be difficult for a person looking to transition more slowly into the workforce.”When considering a returnship, make sure you consider what your other options are,” O’Kelly said. “Is it that I want it to go back full-time? Do I want to get a full-time role, a part-time role?” Regardless of whether you decide to pursue a returnship, a part-time position or any other experience, O’Kelly said that the same rules of hard work and dedication apply. “You really want to get back in there, learn as much as you can, go above and beyond,” O’Kelly said. “Get involved in the company by going to activities, integrate yourself as an active team member.” Image credit: Shutterstock Learn from renowned serial entrepreneur David Meltzer how to find your frequency in order to stand out from your competitors and build a brand that is authentic, lasting and impactful. Or, at least, it could. According to Recode, the contract Mozilla made with Yahoo that makes Yahoo the default search engine in Firefox also comes with a great clause for Mozilla. In said contract — clause 9.1, specifically — the party that ultimately acquires Yahoo could end up paying Mozilla annual payments of $375 million until 2019. That’s because Mozilla has the right to determine whether the purchasing party is acceptable in the company’s eyes. If it isn’t, Mozilla can walk away from the Yahoo search deal and, if it so chooses, strike another deal with another company entirely. Yahoo would still be on the hook to pay Mozilla an annual revenue guarantee for, well, nothing. “Each of our search partnerships is the result of a competitive process reflective of the value that Firefox brings to the ecosystem. The Yahoo relationship is no different,” Mozilla told Recode.Of course, Mozilla could very well stick with its Yahoo deal and not walk away, assuming that Yahoo’s buyer — whoever it ends up being — is just as interested in search as Yahoo has been during CEO Marissa Mayer’s tenure.Mayer jumped into Yahoo’s CEO spot from Google, where she previously served as VP. As a result, some have wondered whether she has placed too much of an influence on search volume (and monetizing search).Final bids from interested companies are expected to arrive by July 18.
